Going Beyond Results to Predict Them

The Helios approach allows us to predict impact before investment, monitor progress during programming, and measure outcomes along the continuum of care, all to reduce the guesswork.

Our approach allows us to predict impact before investment.

The Helios Alliance is at the forefront of addressing the opioid crisis through a multi-disciplinary approach, combining cutting-edge advanced intelligence with time-proven methodologies to provide comprehensive solutions to the systemic challenges of the epidemic. By integrating System Dynamics modeling with predictive analytics, our team can better understand the complexities posed to individuals, communities, and states ravaged by opioid use.

Our approach, supported by decades of experience in the public health space, enables decisionmakers to gain a deeper understanding of the crisis, to predict its patterns, and to implement evidence-based, best-practice strategies for prevention, treatment, and recovery.

Our Methodology

Our simulation platform provides a transparent means to explore likely outcomes of policy and program implementation, as well as predict system successes and the potential unintended consequences of policy shifts.

We view abatement of the opioid crisis as having at least two prongs: reducing the number of overdose deaths to the level they were in 1995 – 1997, before the current crisis started, as well as reducing the rates of active opioid use disorders to the level they were in 1995 – 1997.

While reducing deaths is obviously a key goal, true abatement cannot be achieved if the user population does not shrink to more manageable levels. That is essential to ensuring this crisis does not extend in perpetuity, and we believe this is an area often over-simplified by decision makers.

Our simulation platform considers new products that emerge and quickly assesses their impact on the population and on the existing system as a whole; thus allowing the response to quickly pivot.
